STEP: Adopt-a-family STEP Adopt-A-Family

  • STEP is a diverse group of HS students
  • Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation and Marshalltown

Community Foundation give STEP $10,000 for them to use in their own granting process each year

  • Program Coordinator: Heidi Dalal
  • This year, an anonymous donor allowed STEP to adopt

4 families

  • Members bought and wrapped gifts for Marshalltown

families in need

  • Purchases included daily household items :

(soap, detergent, paper towels, plates) and presents for the kids (ex: barbies, toy cars, clothes)

STEP: Adopt-a-family Student Senate Adopt a Family

➢ 4 Bobcat families for Student Senate to adopt this holiday season ➢ From games to clothes to necessities, the girls were able to check off items on each person's "wish list" ➢ Shopping took place on Wednesday December 12th and gifts will be delivered to the families before we head off to Winter Break!

➢ Seniors: Jocelin Sharfnejda and Sloan Vry ➢ Juniors: Kaci Udhe, Mia Barjas, Grace Fisher ➢ Sophomores: Avery Case, Megan Sills, Mary Kate Gruening, Emily Manis ➢ Freshman: Taylor Jones, Amber Henson, Emma Kuhlers

STEP: Adopt-a-family School Dance

  • On Friday December 14th after the home

basketball game, there was a school dance ○ The boys varsity team won the game against Fort Doge with a score of 42-40

  • Sponsored by the Delegation of the

Advancement of History

  • Nearly 100 Students attended the dance, so

there was a good turn out

STEP: Adopt-a-family Chorus, Band, and Orchestra Concert

  • MHS Holiday Concert was December 9th, 2018

○ Was a MHS Chorus and MHS Band concert

  • December 13th was the Marshalltown

Orchestra Concert ○ All-District (Grades 5-12)

STEP: Adopt-a-family Poetry Out Loud Contest

  • MHS School Poetry Out Loud Contest

is this Wednesday December 19th at Noon in the MHS Auditorium

  • Nine students will recite two poems

each

  • The first place student will qualify for

the state competition

Friday December 21st is Ugly Sweater Day at MHS

Ugly Sweater Day is being lead by Student Senate. Student Senate members will also hand out Candy Canes and other Holiday goodies at lunch on Friday.
