Start by PRACTICING…you need to draw the OUTSIDE of the shape..then go back and start putting in lights and darks to show the way the shape changes….This is a students FIRST practice paper!

After you try a bit you can start to really SHADE the pieces to see the contours. See how this artist has used the black paper to define the EDGES of the pieces…..

Your Goal Today….

  • Get your two pieces picked out.
  • Get the black paper and a white pencil and start

by drawing the CONTOUR edge of your popcorn

  • Spend about 10 to 15 minutes shading the
  • popcorn. Look at all its dents, crinkles and edges.
  • Be sure your popcorn has all 5 values- White,

Light Gray, Gray, Dark Gray and BLACK.. J
