Project Purpose and Needs

PURPOSE

The purpose of the proposed projects is to maintain safe travel along WIS 95 between Alma Center and Merrillan.

NEEDS

The proposed projects are needed to address the following:

  • Meeting the current design standards for roads and bridges
  • Drainage
  • Structure deterioration

Needs – Structure Deterioration

The existing structures were built over 70 years ago, are showing noticeable signs of deterioration and have less than satisfactory ratings. STRUCTURE SUFFICIENCY RATING NBI DECK NBI SUPER NBI SUB

Design Alternatives

NO ACTION

  • Both structures and WIS 95 would eventually be deemed unsafe

to travel.

REHABILITATIVE MEASURES

  • Halls Creek sufficiency rating was high enough to deem

appropriate, but Cisna’s is too low.

  • Rehabilitative measures are only temporary fixes

RECONSTRUCTION

  • Safest alternative
  • Long term fix
  • Meets all needs of the project

Project Information

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS WOULD INCLUDE:

  • Removal of existing roadway, guardrail and structures
  • Construction of new concrete bridges
  • Changing slope of roadway
  • Constructing new roadway
  • Installing new guardrail
  • Seed, fertilizer and e-mat on slopes
