Our 10 Top Tips:

  • 1. Mark or etch your property with your postcode, house or flat number or the

first three letters of your house name.

  • 2. Register items with a serial number at: www.immobilise.com
  • 3. Do not leave your car keys or ID documents near doors, letterboxes or

windows.

  • 4. Always check who’s at the door and don’t open it if you feel anxious.
  • 5. Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you are only going out

for a few minutes.

  • 6. Keep your valuables out of sight.
  • 7. Leave some lights on if it will be dark before you get home.
  • 8. Install a visible burglar alarm and possible CCTV.
  • 9. Always keep sheds and/or outbuildings locked and ensure tools are put

Emerging Problem - Snatches around Oval Tube Station

Inference: Bike-enabled snatches have emerged around OVAL tube station and down FENTIMAN ROAD.

Recommendations:

  • Afternoon/evening patrols.
  • Stops of Male black youths cycling on the

pavement.

  • Crime prevention work around people coming from

OVAL tube station.

Context:

  • In the last two weeks there have been 6 snatches around the

OVAL TUBE area.

  • Time: Most took place during the week: Fri (3), Tue (2), Wed (1)

and Sat (1). 3 time periods: 1300-1800hrs (3), 2000-2200hrs (2), 1000-1100hrs (1)

  • Victims: White female (4) and white male (2), aged 19-35yo
  • Suspects: Black male, slim build on a BMX bike. No further dets

due to speed of offences.

  • MO: Suspect cycles past victim and snatches their phone.

Emerging Problem - Street Crime in the Brixton Hill Vicinity

Inference: Robberies have escalated in the vicinity of Brixton Hill/ New Park Road, with lone victims being targeted for their phones. mainly in the early hours. Context: In the last two weeks there have been 11 robberies and 6 snatches, compared to 3 offences in the last FIM period. Time: 9 offences took place in week one, 8 in week two. 9x weekday offences, 8x weekend, with peak days of Saturday (7), Tuesday (4), Wednesday (3) and Monday (2). Peak hours were between 2200 – 0730 hours (10). Victims: Mainly females were targeted (12), mainly between 22 – 32 years. 5 Male victims, 16-33 years. Targeted for their iPhones or other smartphones in most cases. One instance where a Rolex was taken. Other property included wallets and handbags.

  • Suspects: Predominately Black males aged between 15 and 27, operating alone or in

groups of up to 4..

  • Location: Offences are mainly off Brixton Hill/ New Park Road and Kings Avenue, in the

immediate surrounding streets. MO: Generally low level of violence with threats to carry out violence. Knives were intimated in 2 offences, but no weapons were seen. Two offences took place on pedal cycles.

Emerging Problem - Acquisitive Crime in the Tulse Hill/ Dulwich Road Vicinity

Inference: Re-emergence of acquisitive crime in the Tulse Hill vicinity, extending into the Dulwich Road vicinity Recommendations: (1) Leander Road vicinity to be prioritised for crime prevention. (2) Continued targeting of known offenders. (3) Research into hostels in the vicinity to identify known burglars residing.

Context:

Burglary In the last two weeks there have been 12 burglaries (6 Res, 6 Non-Res). Time/Day: 5x weekday offences, 7x weekend, with peak days of Saturday (4), Sunday (4) and Monday (3). 4x Overnight, 2x Daytime. The remainder had wide time spans and were unknown. Venues: Mainly flats targeted for the residential

  • ffences, with front doors forced or slipped. Non-Res

venues included garages x2, a community centre, a cycle store and 2 commercial premises in Brockwell

  • Park. Pedal cycles were taken in 2 offences.

Other property included small items, such as phones, money, an iPad mini, iPod touch, camera equipment. Suspects: Described in one offence (Lido Café) as a White Male and a black male 20-25 years. Location: Small clusters seen in the Leander Road and Dulwich Road vicinities. Motor Vehicle In the last two weeks there have been 6 offences, 5 Theft from, 1 Theft of. Time/Day: Offences on Sunday (5) and Friday (1). 3x Overnight and 3x Unknown. Variety of vehicles and MO's used. Offences are spread out, but for both MV and burglary, the Leander Road vicinity is the main priority. Intel: More Intel needed on possible offenders living in the area.

MV: Overnight offending predominantly over the weekend. Recommendation:

Crime prevention patrols in the evening/overnight in the highlighted area. Crime prevention advice to be given to the care home.

T – Burg: Predominantly weekday, overnight offending.

MV: Offending increased towards the end of the week. Overnight time periods. Recommendation: Burglary: Crime prevention work around
