Why choose Rethymno as an Erasmus+ participant

The city of Rethymno is an ideal destination for Erasmus participants who wish to explore the rich cultural heritage and the natural beauties of Crete. This well-

  • rganized city offers a variety of picturesque routes to follow and numerous

historical monuments to visit. The old city of Rethymno still preserves its old urban structure to a great extend, formed during the Venetian period onwards.

The student life in Rethymno is fantastic! It’s a city where students are more than the local people and that means that it’s full of life! Students use to spend their time at cafeterias drinking their coffee. Almost every night their are out in places like tavern where they eat greek “meze” (like tapas), drink wine or the traditional “raki” and at the same time they listen to lovely bands playing live popular greek songs. - Katja Palén, Mikael Nummi (Finland) “Rethymno is a very beautiful city, next to the sea, big enough to offer you a lot of choices and small enough so you can reach every part of it on foot or by bike. It is also very convinient for visiting places and citites all around the island” - Matteo Scarcia (Italy) “Rethymno e’ una citta bellissima in cui abbiamo alloggiato volentieri. La ecte e’ un’ associazione con persone molto disponibili e preparate, stella e rodos ci hanno aiutato per qualsiasi problema che abbiamo avuto.” - Italy
