What does the Erasmus+ programme offer students? (A)

  • The Erasmus+ Programme offers very concrete benefits: as

an Erasmus student, students do not have to apply for admission independently; they do not pay tuition fees at your host university; and they receive an Erasmus grant.

  • A student exchange also gives an excellent opportunity to

improve students’ language skills. On an Erasmus exchange, you can study ‘minor’ European languages whose fluent speakers are always in demand. Completing a student exchange and gaining international experience will certainly be considered an advantage when students are looking for a job – any job.

slide-7
SLIDE 7

What does the Erasmus+ programme offer students? (B)

  • An Erasmus exchange will open up many more new
  • pportunities in life: it will increase readiness to work in an

international setting, widen the world view, and help to better understand cultural differences.

  • The exchange will also give students a great opportunity to

exchange ideas about students’ field with other European students, take courses not offered at Home University, and experience another academic culture.

Who can benefit? Students

Regulations: Any degree student, Master or doctoral student registered at the University can apply to go on ICM. To be accepted as an Erasmus student, students must have successfully completed at least

  • ne

academic year and acquired the academic and practical competencies required to study abroad. A particularly important skill for an exchange student is competence in the language of the host country: students should work systematically to improve their skills in the target language before their exchange period.

slide-9
SLIDE 9

National Erasmus+ Office - Jordan

Who can benefit? Staff

Regulations: Erasmus+ provides the following opportunities for teaching and non-teaching staff employed in a HEI:

  • teaching visits to partner institutions (workshops, master

classes, examining visits, etc.)

  • training

visits (job shadowing, continuous professional development activities) A teaching activity has to comprise minimum 8 hours of teaching per week (or any shorter period of stay).

Messages to students:

  • 1. Before they apply for an Erasmus exchange, they should

find out what courses the host university offers. This way, they can ensure they will be able to take useful and interesting courses during their exchange.

  • 2. Studying abroad allows students to supplement their

degree with courses or modules the home university does not

  • ffer, included into their degree under optional studies or in

the total number of credits as individual courses.

  • 3. It may be that the host university’s curriculum is not

available when applying. Therefore students should take the initiative in finding out about the available courses. They should actively seek out information about courses either

  • nline or by contacting the host university directly.
slide-27

Impact of ICM monitoring visits

slide-40
SLIDE 40

National Erasmus+ Office - Jordan

  • Monitoring provided guidance to HEIs to implement ICM
  • Most HEIs established academic international relations
  • ffices (IROs) as central units responsible for mobility.
  • Procedures at newly established IROs were improved
  • All visited HEIs received official feedback letters

summarizing the outcomes of these visits with specific recommendations for further improvements

  • Exchange of best practices among IROs
  • Assisting HEIs to institutionalize the mobilities, especially

issues related to tuition and fees, and recognition

  • f

courses studied in Programme Countries.

  • Assisting HEIs to be engaged in more ICM projects
  • Assisting MOHE to find solutions for recognition of courses
  • Promoting Jordanian best practices internationally
