Joint Programmes (JPs) with other UN organizations and pooled Multi-Donor Trust Funds (MDTFs) represent important mechanisms for the delivery of UNFPA's programmes at country, regional and global level. UNFPA acts as an Administrative Agent (AA) for a number of UN Joint Programmes using a pass-through modality and one Multi-Donor Trust Fund. In doing so, UNFPA adheres to the standard protocol and uses the standard legal instruments (SA and MoU) agreed to by the UN Development Group. UNFPA does not actively seek out to become an Administrative Agent and all the pooled mechanisms for which it is the AA are funding inter-agency programmes or initiatives that are in line with UNFPA's mandate, and in which it also participates. Having been selected on numerous occasions as the AA based on assessment of its capacity has allowed UNFPA to develop considerable experience and accumulated learning in the role, as well as strengthen relevant systems. The consolidated information available here on the programmatic elements and financial status of the JPs and MDTFs is meant for use by existing and potential donors, implementing partners, stakeholders and interested members of the public.
