PEACE PLUS Programme
Provision for PEACE PLUS within the regulations: ‘a new 'PEACE PLUS' cross-border programme should continue and build
- n the work of previous programmes between the border counties of
Ireland and Northern Ireland. Taking into account its practical importance, it is necessary to ensure that, where the programme is acting in support of peace and reconciliation, the ERDF should also contribute to promoting social, economic and regional stability in the regions concerned, in particular through actions to promote cohesion between communities.’

Thematic Focus – Policy Objectives
All programmes most select priorities from the following 5 EU Policy Objectives: 1) A Smarter Europe, through innovation, digitisation, economic transformation and support to small and medium-sized businesses; 2) A Greener, carbon free Europe, implementing the Paris Agreement and investing in energy transition, renewables and the fight against climate change; 3) A more Connected Europe, with strategic transport and digital networks; 4) A more Social Europe, delivering on the European Pillar of Social Rights and supporting quality employment, education, skills, social inclusion and equal access to healthcare; 5) A Europe closer to citizens, by supporting locally-led development strategies and sustainable urban development across the EU.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
PEACE PLUS
PEACE PLUS is a EU cross border programme that will contribute to a more prosperous and stable society in Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland
Activities that support of Peace and Reconciliation
Policy Objective 4: A more social Europe, implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights Contributing to promotion of social, economic and regional stability (Cohesion between communities) Policy Objective 4 = already set by the regulations
Activities that support North-South cooperation on areas of mutual interest
Policy Objective 1: A smarter Europe – innovative and smart economic transformation Policy Objective 2: A greener, low carbon Europe Policy Objective 3: A more connected Europe – mobility and regional ICT connectivity Policy Objective 4: A more social Europe, implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights Policy Objective 5: Europe closer to citizen – development of urban, rural and coastal areas

REGULATORY BASIS FOR THE PROGRAMME
In the Case of PEACE IV Article 14(2) of the ETC Regulation states: ‘……where it is acting in support of peace and reconciliation, the ERDF, as a specific objective under policy objective 4, shall also contribute to promoting social, economic and regional stability in the regions concerned, in particular through actions to promote cohesion between communities. A separate priority shall support that specific objective.’
