SCA Develops Conservation Leaders

The Search Institute study and results

  • Students emerged from a single summer SCA experience with:
  • Better interpersonal skills.
  • Improved leadership qualities.
  • Greater sense of social responsibility.
  • Stronger thriving.
  • And above all, a deeper connection to the natural world and intensified

commitment to conservation. It is rare in a single summer program to see such consistent change across so many skills and attitudes. Yet, it is not surprising as the study is built on years of research and refinement of SCA’s programs. “I’m really glad I did this, because I get that feeling now that I can accomplish these

  • things. And it makes me want to go out and try new things and learn about new things in

the world and go new places. And I feel like I can do that because I know how to survive in the woods, so I can probably survive in the world.”
