  9. What is the Extended Essay? • Academic research essay • Maximum of 4,000 words • Students should spend approximately 40 hours • Must be completed outside of course • Students work with supervisor

How are IB assessments scored? • 6 assessments, 7 points possible • 3 additional points possible (TOK and EE) • Total possible points – 45 • Points necessary to earn the IB diploma – 24!! • Academic grace is built into the system. • Both external and internal assessments • Frequent and on-going assessment • All assessments are criterion referenced.
