  2. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 1: "Retrofitting of mega-blocks: Urban design towards microclimate outdoor comfor" Aleksandra Djukic The focus of the lecture was on retrofitting of communal open spaces in mega-blocks. The research which was done in Block 21at the territory of the Municipality of New Belgrade, has been presented. The simulations have been done by ENVI- met softwer. The tools for improving the microclimate of outdoor public space due to adopting to the substantial warming in temperature extremes brought by climate change were introduced. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  3. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 2: "Building Energy Performance Evaluation" Slobodan Lukovic The lecture explain basic concepts of modeling and simulation of HVAC (Heating Ventilation Aircondition) systems. Domain specific simulators have been presented as well as multidisciplinary co- simulation concept which embraces different aspects of building management and retrofitting. Use case of Modelica and EnergyPlus co- simulation has been presented. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  4. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 3: "Bioclimatic architectural strategy to retrofitting dwellings" Giuseppe La Ferla The lecture was focused on bioclimatic architectural strategy for retrofitting existing dwellings. The theoretical concepts about bioclimatic strategies were presented. The construction components and materials of building envelope, focusing on the energy performancewere presented, taking in account the main difference between historical and modern buildings. Technological solutions for energy performance improvement have been studied for the envelope and interior distribution, also considering the main social aspects linked with the use of the spaces. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  5. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 4: "Building refurbishment technologies " Aleksandra Krstic-Furundzic The lecture explains the possibilities to convert existing buildings into energy efficient and reduce the consumption of conventional energy sources and thus environmental pollution. Reasons, aims and procedures of building refurbishment are discussed. Building refurbishment measures aimed to prevent energy losses and obtain thermal energy gains are considered. Technical solutions for setting up thermal insulation on the facade surfaces, design and construction of the solar walls, glazing of balconies and loggias, attic annex are shown. Domestic (Belgrade region) and international examples of buildings refurbishmentare shown and discussed. Also, the impact of building refurbishment to improve the appearance of buildings and settlements is taken into consideration. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  6. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 5: "Thermal analysis of buildings, Design Builder" Luis Barajas The lecture explains the use of a building performance simulation through Design Builder softwer, using Energy Plus as engine. A quick understanding of the basic principles in a building performance simulation is presented, as well as data and results involved in the analysis of buildings. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  7. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 6: "Energy efficiency refurbishment: a Madrid case of study" Giuseppe La Ferla The lecture has been focused on a real case of study in Madrid, analysing the energetic, architectonic and social aspect of the intervention and effective strategies for retrofitting existing dwellings. Data comparisons have been made to show the differences between comfort level in the buildings before and after retrofitting, as well as energy consumptions and savings. The lectures have been structured as handbook - to learn how it should be done an bioclimatic analysis and how to select better strategies to achieve them. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  8. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 7: "Integration with renewables and clusters of building (main technical issues and trends) - SmartHome - SmartGrid - SmartCity integration" Slobodan Lukovic The lecture presented main trends in introduction of advanced monitoring, data analysis and control technologies and strategies for introduction of Smart Home/City/Region concept. Technology and service convergence is presented as mean to cope not only with retrofitting but also as integral part of environment. In that sense integration of various systems such as energy/water/waste management have been presented at different levels and from different aspects. First Training School COST Action TU1104 – Smart Energy Regions, Belgrade, 20th-24th. April 2015

  9. Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Integrated approach to retrofitting existing dwellings Presentation 8: "Thermal analysis of buildings, Design Builder" Luis Bajaras The lecture explains the main use of the design builder software, for thermal analysis in all the levels and components of the buildings, from surface level to the whole composition data that affects buildings thermal behavior; in the examples which involved bioclimatic strategies.
