Laser Marking Portable Pipe Marker Laser on Stainless Steel § Technology has improved dramatically – Speed (barcode in 0.25 secs) – On-metal performance § Cost has been cut in half – Markers are now less than half the cost of 7 - 10 years ago § Marking as a service Typical Laser Marking Applications (metals) – Where volumes are high (automotive) 5
Passive RFID § Enables short range, fast scanning and locating § Inexpensive, global standard § Attachment methods include – Adhesive (including metal bond epoxy) – Ties and Straps – Mechanical fasteners § Hard Tags are extremely durable § Labels are less expensive but may not survive transport 6
Active RFID Tags § Jovix Tag was built for harsh environment yards – Rugged outer over mold over strong internal frame – Withstands tremendous force and abuse – Battery that operates under -40°C § Long range reads – up to 1000m has been experienced in field testing § Signal at low frequency (433 MHz) enables propagation through rain, ice and snow – Can be read fully submerged under water! 7
Enhancements to Active Tags Looking for User Feedback on new GPS capture feature § Methodology – Tag acquires GPS signal to mark location – Motion sensor only allows receiver to be on briefly – Tag reports location through radio backhaul § Two tracking modes – When the tag stops moving or – When the tag starts moving until it stops 8
New Active Technologies § Bluetooth 5.1 specification – made for tags – Major enhancement to range (800m) – Adds AoA/AoD technology • Measuring angles for accurate RTLS § Early discussions and testing of technology – Shows some promise, much more validation to experience (early stage R&D) – Challenge is outdoor harsh environment § If approved and adopted – Lower costs – Operates with consumer mobility devices 9
