Connectivity Options for Next Gen IOT mmWave Mobile 5G LEGACY (5.xGHz) FIBER WIRELESS FIBER WIRELESS Easily hacked Secure Secure Secure Limited capacity Multi Gigabit Capacity Multi gigabit capacity Multi Gigabit capacity Low cost High cost – Monthly Fees Affordable Expensive High Latency Low latency Very low latency Very Low Latency Interference No Interference Reliable, Immune to Reliable interference Fast Time to market Time to Market - carriers Slow time to market Fast Time To Market * Requires clear Line of Site between radios 5
What is mmWave Wireless? Widest spectrum - High capacity! Narrow beams - No Interference! E-Band (70/8 GHz) V-Band (60 GHz) Lightly licensed , 10GHz Unlicensed, 14GHz 5.8GHz: >10 ° E-Band: <1 ° 6
The Flavors of 5G – Fixed (GWA) and Mobile (5G NR) Summary High Speed - Gbps 5G mmWave Low Latency -msecs IoT support 5G is here today and available to everyone – 60, 70/80GHz Smart Cities - have a choice for their 5G networks – fixed or mobile GWA - Mobile Operators have no incentive, and $$ dis-incentives to use - Massive price premium for using 5G NR mobile networks in fixed licensed bands for fixed applications applications - $1.8/GB vs $0.05/GB revenue generation 7

Case Studies 13
Introduction The City of Cambridge located roughly 100km west of Toronto was seeing an increase in drugs and crime. Especially so in public areas, parking lots, and pedestrian walkways Challenge Solution Results • • • The city owned a decent fiber footprint 5GHz was considered but interference Phase 1 deployment supports 10 cameras but it did not cover the areas the cameras was already substantial, and only • were needed increasing over time A car theft ring was apprehended and overall crime has dropped since • • The network design needed to be 60GHz EtherHaul radios from Siklu were deployment adaptable to expand in the future deployed offering a full Gbps of capacity • Phase 2 in planning • • Extra capacity was needed for additional 6 radios were co-located in a clock tower applications in the future such as public with zero self interference, and none from • Network is providing “ high up time and WiFi the city at large excellent quality ” 14
City of Vail, Colorado Surveillance & WiFi Backhaul • Free Wi-Fi delivered on the same network as multifocal HD surveillance cameras • Network connection to parking lots machines and various smart city controls
City Center Wi-Fi Projects • City of Sheffield, UK • Public Wi-Fi project • 150 x Ruckus AP ’ s plus similar number of Siklu EH600TX links being installed to deliver free Wi-Fi access 16
