NIGP Code Challenges

slide-41
SLIDE 41

NIGP Code Challenges

You are receiving emails for products/services you do not provide

  • Review the solicitation scope and specifications
  • The description may be broad and may not appear to be something you would

be interested in but there may be a need for your product/service somewhere in the scope of the solicitation

  • Review the solicitation line items
  • See what NIGP codes were entered with the line items to identify which code

triggered the email to be sent to you

  • If you feel an incorrect code was used, contact the buyer and let them

know your concerns

  • If you do not see a matching code, contact the buyer and inquire as to why

you received the solicitation

slide-42
SLIDE 42

NIGP Code Challenges

You are not receiving any emails

  • Check your profile to see which email address has been set up to receive

notifications

  • The system only allows one email address to be used for notifications
  • This email address can be updated at any time
slide-43
SLIDE 43

NIGP Code Challenges

You came across a procurement you are interested in but you did not receive a notification email for the solicitation

Review the solicitation to see what codes were entered with the line items

  • Look to see if you are missing any codes that you should have on your profile
  • Look to see if the correct codes were used by the buyer
  • Whether you feel the code is the correct or not, add it to your profile
  • If the buyer used this code once they will likely use it again
  • Even if you feel it is incorrect, it is the code the buyer uses, thus, the

code that is generating the notification emails

Keep in mind, the buyers are not usually experts in the products/services they are purchasing so they are doing their best to identify and select the correct codes. If you have questions or concerns about the codes they selected you may contact them and provide your comments and recommendations.
