The United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum’s Aims • To promote understanding of all aspects of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) • To educate, inform and provide networking opportunities for professionals, service providers, planners and policy makers • To raise the profile of ABI and campaign for better services in the UK

  4. Regional Groups are a very important part of our work – this is one of our Strategic Aims UKABIF will provide information and support for people who work in the field of ABI on a local and national basis and provide access to networks and educational resources including a network of regional groups . UKABIF will provide opportunities for organisations working in the field of ABI join forces on issues to raise awareness and improve services.

What does UKABIF do for Regional Groups? • Help to set up new groups • Information about campaign work • Resources - eg template letters • Two meetings with regional group chairs annually • Monthly communication with chairs • Free conference place for chair/officer • UKABIF will attend group meetings where possible and if requested

Why the regional groups are so important • Give a regional perspective to our work • Provide local contacts eg clinicians and politicians • Tell people about what we do and help to increase our membership • Campaigns – help us raise awareness of our campaign ‘Life After Brain Injury – Improve Services Now’

What UKABIF is doing • All Party Parliamentary Group for ABI – successfully launched 28 November 2018 with four round table discussions scheduled for 2018 • Criminal Justice Acquired Brain Injury Interest Group – bringing a focus to this area amongst key stakeholders academic, clinical and third sector members • ABI Alliance – encouraging collaborative work • UKABIF Membership – broadening contacts in the UK • Regional Groups – as previous slides • Education – conference and seminars
