Call to Order and approval of the Provisional Agenda 1. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:50 AM 2. The provisional agenda was presented to the board 1. Additional Items were added in the Other matters 1. NUWHRAIN Representative due to movement of Mr. Mon de Leon to TESDA 2. Philippine Master Training for FBS 2. The chairman requested the board to review the minutes of the past meeting and note necessary corrections Agenda 2. Proof of notice and determination of quorum 4. Dean Tina Aquino once again welcomed everyone and reported that proof of meeting notice was made thru email and text as sent by the secretariat. 5. A roll-call of present members was made for the determination of the quorum. As of the roll call, there were 15 members out of 20, and a quorum was established. Agenda 3. Approval of the minutes

Dean Mike Mena asked to add the ‘Jr.’ in the name of Prof. Carlos Libosada Jr. and Dr. Gloria Siy corrected her designation – should be Founding President not Past President. 7. As there were no other corrections raised, it was moved and seconded that the minutes was approved. Agenda 4. PBED Presentation 8. The Philippine Business for Education discussed that they are a non-stock, non-profit organization established in 2006. They also emphasized that they are the business community’s response to the need for sustained advocacy in education reform. 9. PBED is working with industry, the academe, and the government to create solutions to improve the quality of graduates entering the workforce. 10. PBED is also setting a standard “code of ethics” for OJT Programs but Dr. Glo and Dir. Luz said that TESDA already has a standard booklet for the OJTs and it might duplicate the booklet made by TESDA 11. Chef Bert Francisco suggested that PBED can use the TESDA manual as a guide in making their own ‘standard code of ethics’ 12.

  • Dr. Glo opened up as well regarding the issue of OJT students paying in the

institutions PBeD to make a proposal and submit to TIBFI for information and action.

regarding the issue of OJTs paying in the institutions

  • 14. Dr. Glo made it clear to everyone that these schools are not charging

the students but it is also the school who started offering the institutions like the hotels to charge the students (as a placement fee).

  • 15. The member associations were surprised with this fact and

suggested that maybe PBED can addressed the present issue and make a feasible solution to it. Agenda 5. TIBFI Accomplishment Report for 2014

  • 16. The Chairman briefly discussed the accomplishment report of TIBFI

from 2014 up to the present.

  • 17. The Chairman discussed about the implementation of the ASEAN

MRA and the ASEAN Master Trainers and Master Assessors Training for F&B, Food Production, Housekeeping, and Front Office spearheaded by DOT and TESDA

  • 18. She also shared the Benchmarking activities for the ASEAN MRA
  • n Tourism Professionals in

Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand plus the Convergence Workshops with DOT, TESDA, CHED, DOLE, and DepEd

  • 19. The Chairman talked about the Consultation Workshop with the

tourism industry stakeholders for the DOT-ADB-CIDA Pictourism Project

  • 20. She also reported the recently concluded 3rd Tourism HR Congress

held in Davao last March 23, 2015 which was well attended with 374 participants from the ASEAN countries and from the different regions

  • f the Philippines
  • 21. She mentioned the website and facebook page updates
  • 22. The chairman announced that the target date for the conduct of the

HR Congress on Tourism shall be on September 16, 2014??

  • 23. The Chairman discussed about the next steps for the ASEAN Level:

a.Development of Toolbox on Travel & Tour Services

  • b. Establishment of a Regional Secretariat

c.Development of the ASEAN Tourism Professional Registration System (ATPRS)

  • 23. Furthermore, the Chairman discussed about the Project with Mr.

Vic Alcuaz – the Meet the Tourism Press that will start on the August.

  • 27. Due to some unforeseen events, only the Tourism Congress of the

Philippines was able to attend the induction.

  • 28. The Chairman formally inducted and welcomed the Tourism Congress of the

Philippines represented by Mr. Orly Ballesteros. Agenda 8. Presentation and Approval of Amended By- Laws

  • 29. The Chairman briefly discussed the Amended

Articles of Incorporation and the By Laws. Reminded the members that the Secretariat sent copies days before the GMM so they can comment and review on it.

  • 30. The Chairman let Mr. Daniel Edralin to lead the final revisions of the AOI and

By Laws and he told the body that there are only minor revisions (on the spelling and the structure

  • f the proper construction of the sentences).
  • 31. After finalizing everything, the Chairman said the revisions will now be

forwarded to the Secretariat to summarize everything and send it after to TIBFI’s Attorney. Members approved the amendments Agenda 9. Member’s Updates & Announcements

  • 32. HRCAP led by Chef Robert Francisco announced

that they are going to host the Chef’s Culinary Challenge on September 5, 2015.

  • 33. AAHRMEI led by Dr. Gloria Baken Wong-Siy shared

their recent General Membership Meeting last May 8-9, 2015 at Pan Pacific Manila and at Manila Tytana College in Pasay City.

  • 34. COHREP led by Dean Tina Aquino shared that they had a recent 23rd

COHREP Convention last February at Baguio Country Club and elected a new President – Dr. Rowena P. Sagaysay.

  • 36. UP AIT led by Dean Mike Mena shared the continuous growth of AIT and its

preparation for the 40th founding year this 2016.

  • 37. Ms. Eleonor Ogarte of NUWHRAIN-APL announced that their hotel, Century

Park are having some major renovations in preparation for the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) because all the delegates will be there.

  • 38. Mr. Daniel Edralin of NUWHRAIN-APL as well further discussed the move of

the organization on lobbying the contractualization case of the labor groups in the Philippines and as of now, they are still fighting for it. He also mentioned that Mr. Mon de Leon will no longer be able to represent NUWHRAIN as he was elected to be in the board

  • f TESDA. A new representative will be joining TIBFI, and this is to be

announced as soon as the board in NUWHRAIN approves.

  • 39. PACEOS represented by Mr. Orly Ballesteros shared the success of the

recently concluded Madrid Fusion Manila in partnership with the Department

  • f Tourism and also their recent elections as well. He invited everyone to

support the Mice Academy – MICE 101 on October and MICECON on September this year at Marriot Hotel, Manila.

  • 40. For TCP, who represented also by Mr. Orly Ballesteros, shared the submitted

position paper to the House of Representatives regarding the immigration issues in the Philippines.

  • 41. PHILTOA represented by Mr. Arjun Shroff invited everyone for the

Philippine Travel Mart, announced that they are going to have the elections of the new Board on November 2015, and invited the member association of TIBFI to support Philippines on the ASEAN Tourism Forum on January 18-25, 2015 because the cost in joining is really high.

  • 42. PTAA led by Ms. Ma. Michelle Victoria shared the battling issues in the

GDS bookings. She also invited everyone on the Lakbay Pilipinas on july 23, 2015.

  • 43. PBL led by Mr. Multey Matilla invited everyone to support PBL in the World

Cocktail Championship 2015 in Sofia , Bulgaria on October 10-15, 2015.

  • 44. AHRM led by Mr. Andre Alip invited everyone to support their annual

Mabuhay Awards on November 20, 2015 at Sofitel Hotel, Manila. He will be requesting the help of PACEOS and HSMA as he was not able to make a competitive bid for the Philippines due to some cost constraints.
