Roméo Dallaire, general; commander of Rwanda international peacekeeping mission: "no human is more human than any other“. Roméo Dallaire came to Canada as a six month-old baby and spent his childhood in Montreal. In 1970, he graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
General Dallaire is the Special Advisor to the Canadian Government on War Affected Children and the Prohibition of Small Arms Distribution. Senator Dallaire has received numerous honours and awards. He is a visiting lecturer at several universities and has written several publications on conflict resolution and human rights. Since his retirement from the military, Senator Dallaire has worked to bring an understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder to the public
