GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree (min. 3 years)
  • Good oral and written English skills
  • Experience with groups of youth in the age group you will be teaching:
  • Elementary: ages 5-12
  • Middle Years: ages 11-14
  • Secondary: ages 12-17
  • If applying to the French specialization, a French proficiency test (DELF/DALF)
  • Specific academic requirements

BC MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

FRENCH BURSARY

UBC French BEd teacher candidates are eligible for a federal bursary administered by UBC. At least 55% of a full-time course load must be taught in French in order to qualify. The bursary amount depends on allocation guidelines set out by the BC Ministry of Education (usually between $800 and $1600).

Applications for the 2019/20 program will open at the start of the program in September 2019.
