Stages of Learning (Grade 6)
Term 1: We’re getting started! Most of the emphasis is on acquiring basic vocabulary and building a sense of community. Term 2: We’re gaining confidence and working more on other subject areas. Term 3: We’re more comfortable learning in French and are starting to speak “unscripted”.
Stages of Learning (Grade 7)
Term 1: Picking up where we left off in grade 6 by fostering community with an emphasis on taking risks and becoming more comfortable listening and speaking in French. Term 2: We’re developing our confidence communicating (both orally and written) in target language by expressing opinions using taught vocabulary. Term 3: Working toward our French Immersion goal of being functionally bilingual – speaking, listening and reading in French independently.
