Paddling in the Heart of Edinburgh Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO). FCC currently unincorporated

  • Becoming a SCIO, among other things, means:

1. Our club assets are the cap for our legal liabilities 2. We can apply for charity funding – desirable for the boat house re-build 3. We will have some additional annual paperwork 4. We will have to update the club constitution 5. SCIO is SCA best practice club structure

  • Vote to give the Committee authority to review the Club’s legal

status with a view to becoming an SCIO. Any final decision on the club structure to be made at an EGM.

Notices

  • Changes to the constitution :

1) At the end of section 2, insert: “No portion of the income and property shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividend, distribution, bonus, honoraria or otherwise howsoever by way of profit to the members.” This is to state explicitly that the Club is not for profit. 2) In section 9, paragraph 5, line 2, delete the word “him” and replace it with the word “them”. This is to render the Constitution gender neutral throughout. The Constitution can be found here: http://forthcanoeclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/FCC-Constitution-as- amended-March-2016.pdf
