FDIP IP Program goals
- Attract & recruit qualified faculty who mirror the racial & ethnic
diversity of the District’s service area
- Provide mentoring & training opportunities for prospective
faculty
- Provide members of racially minoritized groups with models of
their own race, ethnic and cultural backgrounds with whom they can identify and recognize as examples of occupational achievement.
Year-long Program
Faculty training in the fall Classroom experience in the spring
- 48 hours of faculty training
- 8 Saturdays: 8:30-2:30
- Topics: System overview, preparing for class,
student learning assessment, classroom strategies, working with diverse learning styles and student populations, online teaching, Pathway to Los Rios (how to get a job at Los Rios).
- Hands-on experience with a faculty mentor
- Classroom observation
- Deliver lessons
- Instructional activities: create assignments,
prepare tests, review textbooks, conduct
- ffice hours, read/grade homework, papers,
and tests, meet division personnel or attend committee meetings
Note: It is important to note that our numbers in this chart are likely wildly underreported as when the program first began over 30 years ago, information was tracked on paper. It was not until 2018 that all available paper data was entered into PeopleSoft to be able to pull reports on FDIP completers. Additionally, this table summarizes active
- employees. Of those employed as of May 2019,
how many had once completed the FDIP program since 2000.
