The CER Position The railway system comprises various actors: railway undertakings, infrastructure managers, manufacturers, loaders, unloaders, shippers, keepers etc. In research the different players’ needs shall be reflected and the right balance between manufactures, infrastructure managers and railway undertakings shall be found. Shift²Rail shall pave the way to a breakthrough in European rail research and shall contribute to regulation and standardisation. Shift²Rail shall ensure the future competitiveness of the whole European railway sector in a rather challenging business environment with strong competitors.
