Od Odour Ma Manag agement

To minimise this, odour will be managed in the following ways:

  • Odorous excavated material will be

covered and removed from site as soon as possible

  • Site personnel trained to identify and

deal effectively with odour sources

  • Daily assessments at site boundary to

confirm control measures are working

  • ‘Misting’ system to de-odourise or

mask odour when necessary When excavating, odour from ground conditions may become more noticeable

In July, five members of staff from Chambers Wharf completed the British 10K run. The team ran in support of the Deborah Ubee Trust, a Greenwich based mental health charity neighbouring our Greenwich Pumping Station site. The team managed to raise over £800

Women in Engineering 2018

#raisethebar

Brownies raise the bar

As part of Women in Engineering Week 2018 in June, Tower Hamlets Guides and Brownies visited Chambers Wharf, and we visited a Brownie pack in Bow. They learnt that women can make a positive impact in Engineering and Construction - as well as taking part in some fun tasks. After a quick talk about engineering and the Tideway project, the girls got stuck into lots

  • f activities to get them thinking like

engineers. These included building spaghetti and marshmallow towers, balloon hovercrafts, lava lamps and lemon fizz volcanoes. And of course a challenge to ‘raise the bar’

Work e exper erien ience

Four work experience students with us over the Summer. Two from the St Michael's College, one from Walworth Academy and one from East Young Leaders Academy (EYLA). Here’s some of their feedback:

“Thanks to my work experience I have been able to develop a wide range of skills, including working as part of a team, listening and

  • rganisation. It's also helped boost my confidence.”

“Getting a feel of engineering at Tideway has really encouraged me to go on and work in engineering.” “Engineering is now definitely an option for my future.”

Tideway East volunteers headed down to the foreshore in July to clean up plastic rubbish. The team made a great effort and were able to collect many bags full of plastic. This waste is taken away and properly disposed of.

Plastic is a hazardous material polluting our waterways. It’s putting wildlife at risk, harming and in some cases mutating aquatic life.

Staff volunteers, accompanied by the neighbouring Ecology Consultancy, based at Bermondsey Wall West, took to the Isle of Dogs foreshore to remove plastic waste embedded within its beach. Within the fifty bags of plastic rubbish collected they found a bag of Smiths salted peanuts with an expiry date of January 1984 - Which makes them 34 years old!
