Strategy 3: Confidence and Trust: Strengthen risk management strategies for international/ domestic (overnight) programs

Safety is the highest priority in our experiential programs. We created policies and procedures to reduce and manage risk.

  • DGE instituted a new travel ratio and Zika Policy
  • Piloted a draft homestay policy (will be finalized in

Fall 2017)

  • Acquired a new travel insurance company to better

meet the needs of our district

  • Offered 2 Mandatory district chaperone trainings

(40 trained BPS teachers & Admin)

  • Delivered 4 Required Health & Wellness Briefings

based on US Center for Disease Control. in partnership with BPS Medical Director and Boston’s Public Health Commission.

* Innovation, Equity, Coherance

Strategy 4: Partnership for Equity: Ensure that there is equity and access to international programs across the district.

The BPS Global Education Department serves as a consistent contact and active collaborator with key strategic partners. In

  • rder to ensure access there has to be a

point of contact, and liaison between BPS and outside partners. This is the biggest equity asset of DGE. It can be “easier” for partners to work in other districts that might have a more longstanding infrastructure such as homestays, however DGE works closely with schools to build those structures in real time.

* Equity, Innovation, coherence
