NCR Training and Skills – About Us! • 4 District offices – Maryborough, Bundaberg, Northlakes and Maroochydore • 34 Staff • Activities include:-  Promotion of the state’s VET Investment Plan – Workforce Development  Skilling Queenslanders for Work program  SVETE – School to Work Transition Programs  Regulation and compliance of traineeships and apprenticeships  Training Quality – RTO Pre and Post Audit activity

  3. 2017-18 Annual VET Investment Plan Queensland Government investing $768.9M in vocational education and training NDIS is a focus of this plan with predictions of a doubling of the current disability services workforce before full roll out in 2019 – 13,000 ADDITIONAL WORKERS required in Qld! $5M invested into the NDIS Training and Skills Support Strategy

User Choice – traineeships and apprenticeships • $209.7M investment – Provides a contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland trainees and apprentices • Employment based training aligned to the needs of the business – train and employ on part time or full time basis they way you need them to be trained • Structured training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification • Employers can obtain federal government financial incentives

  6. User Choice – Potential linkages with NDIS • Administration Assistants • Allied Health Assistants • Health Supervisors • Dietary Assistants • Practice Managers • Community Service Workers • Community Care Workers • Disability Support Workers • Youth Workers • Mental Health Workers

  7. Certificate 3 Guarantee • 216.7M investment • Supports eligible individuals complete their first post school Certificate III qualification • Specific eligibility criteria • Co-contribution fees apply • Fee Free training in priority qualifications for year 12 graduates • Refer to the Queensland Subsidies List on our website for details of qualifications and subsidies

  8. C3G and the NDIS • Induction to Disability Skill Set – new workers • Certificate III options: • Community Services • Individual Support • Allied Health Assistance • Basic Health Care • Health Administration

  9. Certificate 3 Guarantee Boost • 2 nd Chance funding for those jobseekers who already hold a Certificate III or above qualification • Administered by the Job Seeker Officer from the Back to Work Regional Employment Program

Higher Level Skills • 70 million investment • Subsidies are provided for a select number of certificate IV, diploma and advanced diploma qualifications, and priority skill sets • Specific eligibility criteria • Co-contribution fees apply • The full list of subsidised qualifications is available on the Queensland Training Subsidies List

Higher Level Skills – NDIS options Skill Sets: Certificate IV Community Services Disability work – behaviour support Career Development Coordination of Volunteer Programs Case management Disability Leisure and Health Assist clients with medication Mental Health Mental Health Peer Work Chronic disease self management Youth Work Allied Health Assistance Chronic condition self management for ATSI clients Health Administration Diplomas/Advanced Diplomas: Community Services Nursing Practice Management Community Sector Management (Advanced Diploma)

Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) • 80M each year over 4 years to support up to 32,000 Queenslanders into work. • North Coast Region Budget of approximately 12M or 20% of state allocation • Training and Employment programs for those individuals that need additional assistance to complete training and transition into the workforce. • Target groups include:- CALD, ATSI, Mature Age, Women Re-entering the Workforce, Disadvantaged Youth, Kids Transitioning from Foster Care

SQW – The Programs • Community Work Skills – Over 15 years of age / Intensive support program • Work Skills Traineeships – Over 15 years of age / Paid work on community, public works and environmental projects for up to 6 months • Get Set for Work – 15 to 19 years of age / Intensive employment and training assistance over a 12 month period • Ready for Work – 15-24 years of age to transition into the workforce by providing 6-8 week courses focused on job search assistance and training. • Youth Skills – 15-19 year olds who are engaged with Youth Justice Services or Qld Corrective Services / Intensive support program

  14. SQW - Employer Incentives First Start - provides wage subsidies ($20,000 per trainee) for community organisations to employ additional trainees and apprentices Work Start - One off $10,000 payment; For private sector employers who employ a SQW participant in a traineeship or apprenticeship; Targeted at employers not eligible for the Back to Work payment

Current SQW projects – NDIS linkages • Caloundra Community Centre – Certificate III Individual Support • Community Solutions – Certificate III Individual Support • Five Bridges – Certificate II Community Services • STEPS Group Australia – Certificate III Individual Support • Over 180 people who have either recently graduated or currently training for the expected demand for growth in your sector • Opportunities for your organisation to link with these projects – work placements, industry talks, employment

  16. AllevE8 – SVETE program (School + VET leads to employment)  12 month programs for interested year 12 students  Certificate II in Health Support Services  20 days of structured work placement  The programs are fully implemented, supported and managed by Departmental officers  A Preferred Recruitment Model for Industry  Sunshine Coast 2018 – 23 students & 18 organisations
