This session will show you how to utilize Google Slides to create a Virtual space as a Summer resource to students and parents, including links and videos for activities their child can access that target articulation, language and social skills.

As a result of this training participants will be able to…

• Create a virtual Speech room to share with your students and their families to use in

therapy or to send home for practice

• Increase your understanding of google slides to create interactive activities to be used

for distance learning or as part technology in your therapy toolbox

• Educate families on how to target language through a variety of everyday, play-based,

and educational activities 1

Session Handout 1. What is a Virtual Speech Room? A shared online space that allows for students to participate in learning activities the Speech therapist has prepared. 2. What are some ways to use a VSR? ○ Summer Activities ○ Virtual Field Trips ○ Visualization for Skills ○ Encouraging technology in Speech therapy 3. What are some benefits to using a VSR? ○ Introduce families to technology ○ Families can access it using phone, computer, tablet ○ Enhances collaboration and communication 4. What can I do with a Virtual Speech Room? ○ Share books through video read alouds ○ Share world experiences through virtual field trips ○ Share virtual games ○ Practice speech therapy targets ○ Educate students and parents about speech and language disorders
