Topic 1: Encryption of Data SirsiDynix Software as a Service (SaaS) provides: 1) Encryption of data in transit via HTTPS (SSL via TLS 1.2) to protect web-app and browser- based usage 2) Virtual Private Network (VPN) connectivity for direct system access by staff users (VPN is included in Broward County’s quote) Reference: Controlled Access Plan (CAP) Table 2: Requirements, Policies, and Procedures items SC-12 and SC-13

Certified to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001 certification, having im plem ented the full regim en of Annex A security m easures which are audited annually

AWS – why we left based on what we learned Fit , Flexibility, and Control • Ha Hardwa ware o options – AWS uses commodity hardware. • SD mixes and matches top-tier hardware for performance, reliability, and global operational conformity. rd Party s • 3 rd software lic licensin ing – Some software products are very expensive or difficult to license in a public cloud environment such as AWS. • SD Runs our own data center to allow us to use the best software for each need. • IP addresse sses – AWS required our customers to allow large ranges of IP addresses through their firewalls – a potential security concern. • SD can narrow the requirement which is reassuring to many IT departments. Security & Monitoring • SD uses a variety of security a and m mon onitor oring ng t tool ools, some of which were hampered or completely inoperable within the AWS environment. • SD data center represents a much smaller target for any group or individual who might launch an attack on a more visible facility such as Amazon.
