 If you are moving or planning to move, you must fill it out anyway.  Both the student and parent must sign the course sheet and KAP

Commitment on the back of the course selection sheet.

Students who do not meet these requirements must either attend summer school or repeat the 7th grade.

 Have an “A” or “B” average in KAP  Have an A in the Academic Course

 To move into Algebra 1-- 8th Grade Math CBE is required

 Have parent approval  Students taking KAP English must have passed the Reading

STAAR

 KAP Social Studies is recommended for students taking KAP

English

KAP Courses

KAP courses are designed to challenge motivated students and prepare them for success in advanced coursework.

These courses:

typically move at a faster pace,

are academically challenging,

require more independent learning, and

require more homework than academic courses.

move faster, are more difficult, and teachers have higher expectations.

Students should:

have a positive attitude

be willing to work hard and study hard

have great organizational skills—Planner

have good study habits and good work habits

consider balancing academics & extracurricular activities
