ARMED: Assistive technology pilot

  • Aims:
  • Reduce high numbers of people falling in Hounslow;
  • Reduce inappropriate hospital and LAS call outs and admissions;
  • Early detection of falls risk;
  • Increase daily activity of older people by monitoring and making them

alert then there maybe a risk;

  • Create savings across NHS

  • The system triangulates all of the data captured to

create a 'risk profile' for each Service User, correlating their health metrics over any given period of time, so that our customers are able to identify a health decline in a Service User - before a health event happens and reactive care is required.

  • ARMED focuses on highlighting risk in individuals

with complex needs, so that care can be focused in the areas where it truly needs to be, with less staff / resource required.

  • Currently, ARMED is being used by several our

existing customers, including Dumfries & Galloway Council, East Dunbartonshire Council and Loreburn Housing Association.

  • ARMED has from previous pilot identified

worrisome trends in patient groups, including:

  • - Service Users who were significantly

dehydrated

  • - Service Users experiencing weight loss
  • - Service Users showing increased restlessness

at night, who were presenting an ongoing risk during the day

  • - Service Users who have had a reduction in

muscle mass, despite an increase in weight and body fat

  • - Service Users with a reduction in grip strength
  • - Service Users at increased risk, as identified by

themselves.
