  2. AoC – Ofsted KIT webinar ▪ Today’s session will: ▪ be the penultimate of a series of KIT webinars (every three weeks) ▪ last around 50 mins ▪ provide an update from AoC / Ofsted ▪ answer questions submitted online ▪ give participants an opportunity to ask questions today or for the final KIT. 3. Update from Ofsted ▪ Ofsted activity post-September: ▪ return to routine EIF inspection is the end-goal but inspection now is unfeasible, so an interim period required ▪ routine inspection will not resume until January 2021 - subject to conditions at the time ▪ we need to give the Department, providers, and the public, some indication as to the nature of sector recovery ▪ we will not want/be able to visit every provider during interim period ▪ need to maintain some link to the principles of the EIF as an eventual route back to routine EIF inspection in future ▪ announcements from DfE Thurs 2 July and from HMCI over past weekend. 4. Update from Ofsted ▪ Activity during the interim period. ▪ Interim visits to all G3 and G4 providers plus a sample of G1 and G2 providers. Applies to colleges, ILPs, ISCs, CLS and employer providers. No grades, no progress judgements. Usually two inspectors involved for up to two days. Published letter outlining what we saw and heard about. Letter will feature ‘next steps for the provider’ – these will be discussed with leaders. These are not inspections, these are not inspections, these are not inspections, these are not inspections, these are not inspections… ▪ New provider monitoring visits (NPMVs) to providers who received an ‘insufficient progress’ judgement on their first visit. The second visit will be instead of their full inspection. Funding will resume if reasonable or better progress made. ▪ Support workshops run by HMI. These will cover topics reflecting sector needs. We seek assistance from AoC, AELP, HOLEX, Natspec, SFCA to collate/pool requests. AoC - Ofsted webinar 7 July 2020 Slide 4

  5. Update from Ofsted ▪ We will play our part in supporting a sector struggling with the fall- out from COVID-19. ▪ We will use these visits to work collaboratively with leaders, listening and providing appropriate challenge - a professional conversation. ▪ We will minimise onsite time and inspector numbers for any interim visits and NPMVs. ▪ We will observe social distancing and take account of the remote learning taking place. ▪ We will not evaluate measures put in place at point of lockdown or during lockdown. ▪ We will report back on the national picture across England.
