6th Grade Course Registration 2019

Instructions for 6th grade students to register for 7th grade courses

Course Registration Forms

All current 6th grade students should have:

1) A green course registration form 2) A list of course descriptions

What information do students need to provide on the green registration form?

Students should review and complete this form with their parent(s). Fill out the top portion with name and parent information. Students need to complete the box related to electives. Both student and parent must sign the form.

Required Core and Elective Classes

• All 7th grade students are placed in English 7, U.S. History 7, Life Science

7, a math course, and semester-long HPE 7

• Math placement is made by looking at each student’s math data to

determine the most appropriate course for each student.

• 7th Grade students can be placed in Math 7, Advanced Math 7, Algebra I

Honors, or Geometry

• Students and parents will be notified of math placement in March

Elective Choices for 7th grade

Students may choose one year-long elective:

• Art Grade 7, Band Grade 7, Chorus Grade 7, Bel Canto Choir (requires an

audition)

• These classes meet everyday all year long

OR

• They should indicate that they do not want a year-long elective.

Elective Choices for 7th Grade

If students choose a year-long elective, they will have one semester-long elective to pair with HPE. If they did not choose a year-long elective, they will have three semester-long electives, along with a semester of HPE 7. Rank these choices to pair with HPE (1 is your first choice)

• Agriscience
• Intro to Tech Ed
• 2D/3D Art
• Intro to Coding, Part I
• Make It Your Business
• Creative Writing

Digital Input Technologies

For students who did not take Digital Input Technologies in 6th grade…..

• They will be signed up for Digital Input Technologies as one of their

semester-long elective courses.

• Mrs. Parker or Mrs. Conaway will discuss this option when they meet to

do online registration with students in February.

How do students find out more information about the elective class choices?

Read the course information handout. Also, talk to teachers who teach those courses

• Wednesday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m.
• 6th and 7th grade students can come learn more

information from teachers about elective courses

Complete and Return Your Form

6th grade students should return their completed form, with a parent signature, to their science teacher by Friday, February 1.

• Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Conaway will visit science classes to help students

register for their courses online. Students must have their paper form completed to register online. Direct any questions about course registration to Ms. Weidner, Mr. Byrd,
