Gateway To Technology- Robotics

Literacy Courses

Graphic Novels and Great Books

Students will:

• Learn to recognize, read, and interpret graphic novels from a variety of genres
• Write and illustrate their own unique short graphic novels
• Select independent reading from a list of young adult novels
• Evaluate these novels and make recommendations to their classmates in the

form of book talks

Information Literacy and Creative Writing

Students will:

• Find and evaluate information from a variety of sources

○ newspapers, magazines, nonfiction, internet, advertisements

• Determine the reliability and validity of this information, and utilize these skills

to create a research project.

• Create a portfolio of their varied creative writing pieces.
