! COVID impact on you, ! Possibly a full year of impact and beyond ! We are here to share information about this year ! We must be able to transition seamlessly between: Green, Yellow, and Red risk levels ! What do you want us to do, to be more efficient and improve?
! Traditional: Kodiak High School (KHS) ! Virtual School, online with a teacher facilitating your learning, student independent, asynchronous, small group instructional pods, parent/guardian as a learning coach to support student. ! Home School (AKTEACH), parent is the teacher with KIBSD supports through AKTEACH.
! Six plus groups of educators, parents, community members, and students ! Working on a District Re-opening Plan ! Working together to make a safe educational plan for PreK-12 students and educators ! Medical committee:Three doctors, district lead nurse, health services director, EOC director, superintendent, and two principals.
! During ‘Green’ or ‘Low Risk’ students would be in school 5 (five) days a week on the 4-period schedule
! Possible changes due to social distancing requirements
! Increased Cleaning and Sanitation ! Social Distancing ! Removal of Common Area Furniture
two (2) days a week:A/B days (A= Tues & Thurs, B = Wed & Fri). On days when a student is not in the building, this will be a ‘distance learning’ day. Students will prepare for the next class meeting. ! Think of a ‘Flipped Classroom’ or ’Blended Learning’ model ! Monday will be reserved for small group instruction, student/parent
! During ‘Yellow’ or ‘Medium Risk’ students would be in the school building conferences, student and teacher tech and program trainings
! During ‘Red’ or ‘High Risk’ all students will be off campus, following the distance delivery schedule ! Monday will be reserved for small group instruction, student/parent conferences, student and teacher tech and program trainings. ! Similar to spring, with improvements.
All students are on campus M-F.

! Minimizes number of transitions and time in hallways ! Minimizes large groups within the halls and common areas ! Increases the daily contact time between teacher and students ! Reduces the number of classes each day/week ! Minimizing the required course load of 7 classes in a day
! Maintains 7 credits per year, actually increase to 8
! With possible 9 credits*
! Allows 4 semester long courses ! Allows students to take a semester course for full credit (1.0) ! If a student isn’t successful in a class the fall semester, they can retake it in spring (seniors)
! Advisory Time, daily. ! Smaller number of students to teacher ratio (3 classes) make deeper connections ! Mental health of everyone
