« Some moments in a woman’s life are mountains to climb. But nothing can stop an adventuress born on the road of challenges. Whether it is an evidence already proven or a challenge to be discovered, the Rose Trip trek is the ideal playground for an initiatory experience.» The Rose Trip Team
For twenty years, I have had the opportunity to share my passion for the great
- utdoors with extraordinary women from all backgrounds. With the Rose Trip,
I want to open desert’s doors and orienteering to walkers of all levels, in search
- f territories to explore and challenges to overcome. Passionate about hiking
since my earliest childhood, I am convinced that southern Morocco is an ideal playground and that our know-how makes this project an incredible adventure for
- women. Rose Trip is therefore not only a nomadic hike but an event in solidarity with
women and partner associations: Enfants du désert and Le Cancer du sein, Parlons-en! Géraldine REY FOUNDER OF THE ROSE TRIP
AN ADVENTURE 100% FEMININE
Desertours opens the doors of the Moroccan desert to all women thirsting for adventure. All-female, the Rose Trip hike is done in teams
- f three in the heart of the Merzouga region.
Six days of adventures including three days of stages and a solidarity-based challenge entirely dedicated to letting go and a total change of scenery.
AN ORIENTEERING TREK IN THE DESERT
The all-female trios will have to cover loops using
- nly the authorized navigation devices: a compass
they will have to master, a GPS distance counter they will have to use and a roadbook they will have to decipher! On the agenda, several orientation stages where the notion of speed is excluded. Teams will have to understand and interpret their environment to better appropriate it. In this adventure, the winning team will be the one that has completed the fewest kilometers while respecting the checkpoints.
A SOLIDARITY TREK
Each Désertours event is marked by solidarity. The all-female orienteering Rose Trip trek is in line with this spirit by offering a solidarity trek in collaboration with the associations Enfants du Désert and Cancer du sein, Parlons-en! Each participant can also decide to commit herself to the solidarity actions carried out during the edition.
The concept
Rose Trip is a hiking experience reserved for women in search of adventures and self-transcendence. Neophytes, sportswomen and trekking experts are welcome on the starting line. The only thing you need is a strong motivation to reach the fjnish line, regardless of your physical condition. The Rose Trip welcomes women from all over the world. Each team will be able to compete in the category that corresponds to its profjle. Three sports categories are available:
- The OPEN category designed for all women who
wish to challenge themselves while participating in an event that is accessible.
- The OPEN + category is open to all the women
who have a physical activity on a regular basis and who hike occasionally.
- The EXPERT category is open to all women who
are passionate about trekking, already initiated to the discipline and enduring. The Rose Trip is also open to all companies wishing to challenge their employees. These companies will be able to register them in the OPEN or OPEN + category and try to win the Trophy.
An event accessible to all
The Rose Trip is the result of a concerted refmection: the Désertours team wanted to put its passion at the disposal of the trekking expertise. Désertours has more than thirty years of fjeld expertise in desert areas and is based in the «Pays Basque» in France, a privileged hiking area nestled between the ocean and the Pyrenees. Attracted by nature and in love with challenges, the Désertours family, led by Jean- Jacques and Géraldine Rey, created the Rose Trip concept to open the doors of the desert to women who love trekking and wide-open spaces. Désertours, organizer of this desert trek, has worked hard to offer the best in terms of sporting events: the fjeld reconnaissance, the realization of the route and the recognition of the best itinerary have been entrusted to a mixed team that has already walked legendary trekking routes in South America, New Zealand or even Nepal. To follow their path amongst amazing landscapes and Moroccan dunes promises to be unforgettable and magical.
The organization
Sharing his passion for adventure is the driving force behind its Athletic Director Julien Letullier. Each year, the team in charge of fjeld reconnaissance has mobilized to travel the desert in search of new routes. Research, invent, identify, trace and test... their mission is vast but guarantees a unique desert expertise. «The desert is changing and tirelessly we must re-examine its contours, its plateaus and dunes, to imagine and design the most beautiful playground.» Julien Letullier
SECURITY
During all events, a wide range of measures is deployed to ensure ideal conditions for
- participants. For the Rose Trip, large-scale human
and technological resources are being
- deployed. At any time, trekkers will be able
to report an incident, thanks to the advanced geolocation system they will be equipped with. Desertours’ security expertise also involves strict compliance with the legislation that governs its activities. From a regulatory point
- f
view, Désertours is in full compliance with the law in terms
- f fjnancial protection for its participants, but also in
terms of security. The company holds a State Licence.
LOGISTICS AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Participants will benefjt from the presence of a large team of pedestrian and motorized support staff with broom trucks and a medical team composed of doctors, nurses, podiatrists, etiopaths and Red Cross members at their disposal.
The expertise
Walking through the desert and reducing its impact on the environment is a real desire for Désertours. The Rose Trip is part of an eco- friendly approach where each team contributes to the respect of the environment by walking, keeping its waste to the supply points and collecting those found in its path. A recycling operation for the plastic bottles consumed during the event is being carried out in partnership with a local sorting organization and Surfrider Foundation TM. Every hiker shares this same desire: to preserve his playground that is nature and return his environment as he found it or even cleaner. In general, everything is done during the Rose Trip to make participants aware of simple, eco-friendly actions: sorting garbage, collecting waste, intervention of the NGO Surfrider Foundation, distribution of eco gourds...
An eco-friendly trek
Since its creation, Désertours has associated its events with new solidarity projects led by the association Enfants du Désert. The Rose Trip join the movement and each participant can make a contribution by supporting the different actions.
A solidarity trek
For more than thirteen years, Désertours has been collaborating with the association Enfants du Désert, founded by Laetitia Chevallier. Its motto, «Learning to read, write and count: a right for all», summarizes its action to promote school enrollment and improve the living conditions
- f children who are geographically isolated. In
2018, the association decided to set up a project for women to help mothers in the desert who need it. After several months of refmection and fjeld studies, it is on a project of solidarity breeding
- f goats that the association has committed
- itself. Supported by the Moroccan Ministry of
Agriculture, the action aims to empower women in the medium term through the sale of goat’s milk and later goat’s cheese. Thanks to the participants of 2018, 76 goats and their food for one year were fjnanced for 35 women from the village of Haroun in southeastern Morocco.

THE ASSOCIATION CANCER DU SEIN, PARLONS-EN !
Today, one in eight women is affected by breast cancer. Since 2012, Désertours has been a partner of the association Le Cancer du sein, Parlons-en! through actions carried out during its all-female adventures. It also participates in the “Octobre Rose” event, which raises women’s awareness about the prevention of the disease. The Rose Trip organization wishes to support women who fjght against this illness and work to promote information and early detection. As part of the solidarity actions, the organizers of the Rose Trip offer an athletic challenge in support of Le Cancer du sein, Parlons-en! association. During the fjrst edition, the participants had to climb the highest dune of Merzouga. Let’s all move forward for a real collective solidarity challenge! At the end of the trek, Désertours donated 5,000 euros to the association.
