Master Thesis Objectives

This Study thrives to:

  • Determine the waste management status of Rundu and

Katima Mulilo town

  • Quantify the types of waste generated in each under

studied town

  • Recommend the suitable waste to energy technology for

each understudied population

STUDY AREA

RUNDU

  • Fast growing town in Namibia with a total

population of 63 431 people.

  • Currently there is recycling efforts taking

place

  • Logistically challenged to send the recyclable

materials to the nearest collection centre

Research Questions

The study will answer the following questions:

  • What is the current waste management status of

Katima Mulilo and Rundu?

  • What is the suitable technology for energy recovery in

each town?

Research Stay Expectations

During my stay I wish to:

  • … be exposed to various waste to energy technologies

available in Germany and their utilities.

  • … learn on the perception and receipt of the waste to

energy technologies by the various communities in Germany.

  • … learn various approaches to and studies conducted
  • n waste management in Germany.
