About the Research

0 Patient whiteboards serve as a communication tool

for patients, families, and the healthcare team. Whiteboards promote patient care and teamwork. Nurses surveyed feel whiteboards promote patient advocacy.

0 Missed nursing care is contributed to dysfunctional

  • teamwork. Both NAs and RNs feel there is a major

breakdown in communication. Suggestions to improve communication include a joint report each shift, debriefings, and use of communication boards.

0 Whiteboards can significantly improve patient
