LOCATION: VLADIVOSTOK, RUSSIA Vladivostok - is a port city in the Far East of Russia. Located on Muravyev-Amursky peninsula and islands in Peter the Great Gulf, it is the final destination on the Trans- Siberian Railway. It is the seaport of the Russian Far East and it is ranked fourth for goods turnover in the region. Furthermore, it is the main naval base for the Russian Pacific fleet. The city is largest scientific and educational center of the Far East region; most notably, Far Eastern Federal University and Far East Office of the Russian Academy of Sciences are located in the city. In September 2012, the APEC summit took place in Vladivostok on Russky Island.
