includes attendance, used for graduation tracking, employment, colleges, etc.

 Colleges do not accept “D” grades in core classes

Freshman Guidelines

 Must take 7 credits

 A year long class = 1.0 credit  A semester class = 0.5 credit

 Attendance and doing/handing in homework are CRITICAL to

success

 What is Credit Recovery

 F Grade = No credit  If you fail a core class, you MUST meet with your counselor to

make a plan on how to recover the credit to graduate.

 Credit recovery costs $$$

 School Calendar

 Two 18 week long semesters, 1st semester ends at the end of

January

 Every 6 weeks a progress report is sent home  At the end of 18 weeks the grade becomes PERMANENT on

your official school record (transcript)

International Baccalaureate (IB)

IB classes are the most challenging courses offered at GHS for Juniors and Seniors. IB Program Options:

Earn a full IB diploma

 Take 4 years of a World Language  Forecast for Honors Classes in English, Math, & Science  Forecast Honors Geography  Take IB Tests and Earn college credit

Take one or more IB classes in strong subject area NOTE: Students can forecast for IB classes during the sophomore year. Questions? See Mrs. Childress or your School Counselor.

Fill out Forecasting Sheet with your name and ID #.

2.

Research classes more: use Course Planning Guide

  • r ask your school counselor for help

Finish filling out forecasting form completely

4.

Get signatures from your parent/guardian (required) and teachers (for classes marked with a ).

5.

On your forecasting day: enter class choices online and turn in form
