  13. Do Nothing Alternative ISSUES ADDRESSED: • None DISCUSSION: • Least expensive • Least impactful • Does not address congestions, safety, or other identified issues RECOMMENDATION: • Must be considered Estimated Cost: $0 12/19/16 13 RSG

  14. S2: Extend Speed Zone ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Engine brake noise • Speeding through project area • Uncomfortable pedestrian environment DISCUSSION: • May address the issues, reduce severity of crashes • Speed zones should be set by engineering study of the corridor RECOMMENDATION: Estimated Cost: • Recommend speed study $2,000 12/19/16 14 RSG

  15. S3: Striped Shoulder on VT15 at Island Striping in 2011 (Google Streetview) ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion at Allen Martin Drive DISCUSSION: • Previously there; why removed? • Provide improved sight distance, increased left turn storage RECOMMENDATION: • Recommend to replace striping Estimated Cost: Striping in 2016 $1,500 12/19/16 15 RSG

  16. S4: Enhanced Intersection Warning Sign ISSUES ADDRESSED: • WB rear end crashes DISCUSSION: • With queue detector and solar power, alert motorists to stopped traffic in roadway • Not necessary if mid3 to long3 term solutions are pursued RECOMMENDATION: • Recommended only if no mid to long term solution is Estimated Cost: acceptable $15,000 12/19/16 16 RSG

  17. M1: Extend Island into Roadway ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion at Allen Martin Drive DISCUSSION: • Long term application of S3 • Provide improved sight distance, increased left turn storage RECOMMENDATION: • Initially recommended in conjunction with other mid term solutions Estimated Cost: $17,500 12/19/16 17 RSG

  18. M2: Construct WB Left Turn Lane ISSUES ADDRESSED: DISCUSSION: RECOMMENDATION: • WB rear end crashes • Long term application of S3 • Initially recommended in conjunction with • Congestion on VT315 • Provide improved sight other midterm distance, increased left turn solutions storage Estimated Cost: $390,000 12/19/16 18 RSG

  19. M4: Extend NB Left & Right Turn Lanes ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion and queuing on Allen Martin Drive DISCUSSION: • Allows right turning vehicles to bypass queued left turns • May not be needed if long3 term alternatives are pursued RECOMMENDATION: • Queueing not currently an issue; pursue if long term Estimated Cost: solutions are not developed $165,000 12/19/16 19 RSG

  20. M5: Widen EB Right Turn Radius ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion on VT315 DISCUSSION: • Turning trucks track into VT3 15 through OR Allen Martin Drive • Will increase pavement width; may increase speed RECOMMENDATION: • Redesign / improvements at intersection must Estimated Cost: account for design vehicle $17,350 movements 12/19/16 20 RSG

  21. M6: Flashing Intersection Beacon ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Rear End Crashes on VT315 DISCUSSION: • Could be placed on span wire with poles designed for ultimate signal (if preferred) RECOMMENDATION: • Initially recommended in conjunction with other midterm solutions Estimated Cost: $50,000 12/19/16 21 RSG

  22. L3: Intersection Control: Signal ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion on Allen Martin Drive DISCUSSION: • Intersection control warranted with 80 acres additional development • Could be phased with mid3 term improvements • Acceptable operations • Light / noise into neighbors RECOMMENDATION: Estimated Cost: • Viable intersection control $1.5 million 12/19/16 22 RSG

  23. L4: Intersection Control: Roundabout ISSUES ADDRESSED: • Congestion on Allen Martin Drive DISCUSSION: • Intersection control warranted with 80 acres additional development • Turn lane widening unnecessary • Generally considered safer • Large impacts to fewer properties RECOMMENDATION: Estimated Cost: • Viable intersection control $2.0 million 12/19/16 23 RSG
