  • restoration. Hon. Kisamba Mugerwa, the Chairperson Microfinance

Support Centre represented Uganda. Highlights were on factors promoting and scaling up ecosystem restoration initiatives; putting in place enabling policies that mobilize entire societies to address Desertification Land Degradation & Drought; institutional innovation; fostering South-South cooperation; and ensuring gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Highlights were on investing in dryland areas to boost local livelihoods; ensuring equitable access to land, knowledge, and funding, especially for women; and promoting international cooperation, alternatives to chemical fertilizers, insurance for agriculture soil health, water-efficient irrigation systems and investments for sustainable energy at the local level.
