VIKING TRACK AND FIELD PHILOSOPHY – INDIVIDUAL GOALS

1.

Develop respect and enjoyment for the sport of track and field.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

Must be completed before the first day of practice

 Current Sports Physical (since June 1, 2019)

Must be completed before first competition (Feb. 14th)

 Sports participation fee of $140.00.  IHSA drug testing waiver (if participated in a

previous sport this school year, it is done)

Online registration – Must register even if your son has been in another sport.

We raised over $14,000 in 2019!!

Net profit of $10,500. Louisville trip = $6,000 – Transportation alone was $3,200 Louisville trip is a two year fund raiser-set aside $3,000 each year Sweats for entire team = $3,300. Team Bowling = $350.00 Food for Lock In = $150.00 Various equipment needs – Poles for vaulting, throwing implements, replacement hurdles, tents, extra uniforms (state, throwbacks), competition sweats. IMPORTANT DATES

 1. Week of February 10th – Fundraiser begins  2. February 19th – Fundraiser kickoff  3. Sometime in mid March – Picture day  4. March 30th – April 3rd – Spring Break

 No “formal” practices, no meets  Coaches will hold informal practices for those who

are in town. No penalties for missing if not in town.

 April 18th – VanDeveer Relays. Senior recognition

 All team members must be present.

 Distance: 800 meter and above (800 m, 1600 m, 3200 m, 4x800 relay)  Sprints: 400 meter and below (100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 4x100m, 4x200, 4x400)  Hurdlers (110 m highs, 300 m lows)  High Jumpers  Long and Triple Jumpers  Pole Vault  Throwers (shot put and discus)

  • varsity. All team members compete.

INJURIES

 Report all injuries, small or large to a

coach.

 See our trainer before a doctor  If a doctor is needed, make an

appointment with a sports med if possible.

 Apply ice to any sore muscle as soon as

possible after practice.

 A trainer is available at all meets and

most practices
