What is professional coaching?

Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring, or

  • training. ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and

creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The coaching process helps clients improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential. The coach responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify and align with what the client wants to achieve
  • Encourage client self-discovery
  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
  • Hold the client responsible and accountable

Why use a coach?

Highly renowned companies are realizing the effectiveness of coaching in achieving their goals. Major corporations from a variety of sectors, including IBM, Nike, Verizon and Coca-Cola Enterprises, have turned to coaching to increase employee satisfaction, improve output and strengthen their bottom lines. Coaching brings a shift in corporate culture that increases productivity by changing it from command and control to collaboration and creativity. It helps close the gap between generations by increasing engagement and encouraging progress that benefits all parties involved. Leadership is strengthened; communication is enhanced; listening is fine-tuned; and the overall organization becomes more effective.
