Chad – I am not sure how you would like the funding requests written. Here is the info:

  • 1. Trauma Symposium - $30,000 request to cover additional costs incurred due to new

facility, growth of the symposium, marketing needs and general expenses and approved, waiting for funds to be dropped into account at NG Community Foundation.

  • 2. Law Enforcement STB – We already have the training kits. What additional costs are

there?

  • 3. Trauma-Field App – already funded.
  • 4. Touniquets for law enforcement – The tourniquets that Matthew Crumpton has are

not the kind that hook onto a belt. If we use those we would have to purchase holsters at about $15 each. He stated he has enough torniquets for all of Region B. We would just need to cover the Region 2 counties not in Region B. A list of law enforcement needs for the entire region is being compiled now. We could use funding for this, but I don’t have exact numbers at this time. Is it possible to estimate the need and make a request without data? Regional Summary: Region 2 continues to have great participation in our R.T.A.C. Quarterly meetings and work within the region. We are currenly working on plans and logistics for the 4th Annual Trauma Symposium to be hosted again in Gainesville Georgia, with location moving to the new Lanier Technical College Campus due to space. We continue to progress with our STB Training in our schools, with over completion.

RTAC Quarterly Report Current Needs: Regional Summary: RTAC Committee Membership is increasing. Stop the Bleed is on track to be complete this August 31st. Region 4 is on track with the goals that were presented at the last meeting. The updates are as follows:

  • 1. Progress of 2019 Goals:
  • a. Update Completion of STB for all Public Schools and Buses within Region 4, and

distribution of training kits to each school.

  • 1. All schools are trained with kits in place. (complete)
  • 2. Train an additional 10 (at least), per school. This will assist the Nurse (or

designated coordinator) in feeling more comfortable with teaching the class on their own (sustainability). Completion goal before the beginning

  • f the 2019-2020 school year.
  • 3. Train all school bus drivers and place kits in each bus. All Counties are

scheduled OR complete. The last training is July 29th (Carrollton City School Buses).

  • 4. SUNSET DATE FOR ALL SCHOOLS AND BUSES TO BE COMPLETE AND

SELF-SUSTAINABLE IS AUGUST 31, 2019.

  • b. Update Completion of Stop the Bleed Training for (and equipping) Emergency

Departments.

  • 1. The biggest challenge has been getting the appropriate audience with the
  • hospitals. Reaching out to the ED Director is key, but getting the time

added or ‘squeezed’ into staff meetings is the biggest challenge.

  • 2. The Region C Healthcare Coalition meeting on May 14th will allow a short

presentation and brief outline of training expectation, for tourniquet distribution.

  • 3. SUNSET DATE FOR ALL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS TO BE COMPLETE IS

DECEMBER 31, 2019.

  • c. Update Complete distribution and training for the Regional Improvement Grant

STB kits.

  • 1. Training and kit placement is nearing completion.
  • 2. There are many communities within Region 4 that are looking to place

kits in public buildings, large gathering places, etc. This is very exciting, as this will bring more recognition for the program, and benefit many.

  • 3. SUNSET DATE FOR ALL REGIONAL IMPROVEMENT GRANT KITS TO BE

DISTRIBUTED WITH TRAINING IS AUGUST 31, 2019.

31

slide-32
SLIDE 32

Current Needs: Still working to see how RTAC is going to sit with the Region VI EMS Council- There is a lot of confusion on both ends on how this are going to work moving forward. Region VI is still working on revamping their committee board members to be more in line with other RTAC committee’s in the State, as well as sub-committee. Region Coordinator resigned in April 2019, will be looking for applicants to refill this role.

The removal of the RTAC coordinator from being housed at the hospital was beneficial for many reasons, however it has created a disconnect from the only Level I program in the region. There is need for space at the hospital to work on- site to avoid duplication in efforts. Support and structure from EMS council on bylaws, communication, projects.

RTAC Quarterly Report Regional Summary: Region 9’s new chair, Dr. Alexis Gage, took over in November of 2018- she has been a great asset to the committee as we re-build and grow. Our EMS council needs to work with the RTAC to clarify how the bylaws will be set up—and work together to avoid duplication. The board for the RTAC has been officially set, and the first meeting of 2019 will occur in July of 2019. The Stop the Bleed School Response Program was 100% complete on August 13th, 2018. As we distribute training kits to The Stop the Bleed School-Transportation Program has also been extremely successful, with all but one of our 24 counties complete. Chatham County which hosts over 450 bus drivers was completed on 4/24. two counties have not participated

  • n any level. The sunset date for the program will be in August of 2019, when McIntosh County

completes their training. The RTAC will began training ED’s, starting with Appling County in April, two other hospital systems are complete and region M will complete their training on June 7th. Our region is working with Memorial health to conduct injury prevention research into pedestrian vs MVC collisions—we have been diving into over 1,000 trip reports to categorize each incident based on location, age, traffic reports and more. DPH is helping with the reporting aspect. The research was presented at TCAA in May of 2019. The research was very well accepted, and we are presenting the data to the city of Savannah to find solutions to an increasing risk area. Due to a void in mass casualty training, our RTAC partnered with Savannah Police, GEMA/HS, Savannah Fire, Chatham EMS, the FBI and Fort Stewart EMS to create an Active Threat/ Mass casualty committee. The committee has over thirty ‘members at large’ and is focusing on major events in Chatham County in 2019 with the attempt to expand regionally in 2020. The RTAC Coordinator, Stephanie Gendron is working on obtaining her Certified Emergency Manager Certification (GA CEM), EMT-B and is applying to the Savannah Leadership 2020 class.

RTAC Quarterly Report Needs Report: All schools need to be trained in Oconee county during the upcoming quarter. Communication between Region 10 RTAC representatives and respective transportation directors/bus drivers is currently lacking. Region 10 is working to expand the Stop the Bleed program to institutes of higher education in partnership with Steve Harris in the Office of Emergency Preparedness at the University of Georgia. Further funding is needed to support this expansion. Region 10 RTAC is seeking improved representation from rehabilitation services in planning and implementation phases of RTAC projects. Additionally, Region 10 is seeking more involvement from all committee members in order to improve the success of RTAC functions in the Region. Region 10 has yet to begin training and equipping ED personnel with tourniquets. Communication with the Region 10 health care coalition has been

  • established. This partnership will likely assist with this project.

Regional Summary: Stop the Bleed continues to be a success in the region. Every school has received Stop the Bleed kits and only one county remains without proper instruction. A total of 2,106 people (K-12) and 80 schools have been trained. Region 10 is in the process of delivering the additional 2 training kits to each school district. Solid communication is established with Oconee County, the one remaining school district that has yet to participate in Stop the Bleed. Trainings for school personnel in Oconee are currently planned for the months ahead. The K-12 Stop the Bleed initiative is nearing completion in Region 10. The next step is to focus attention and resources to the bus drivers in Region 10. Oglethorpe county is offering open Stop the Bleed trainings to other school districts. These trainings are set to occur in late July. Funding for the proposed expansion of UGA’s Stop the Bleed program is

  • pending. This proposal is designed to allow for smaller universities to adopt Stop the Bleed on their
  • campuses. The University of Georgia will assist with oversight and ensure success. Regional

improvement grant funding for Region 10 has been approved. These funds were awarded on 3/11/2019. TECC trainings in Region 10 are preplanned and ready to begin once the funding is

  • received. The TECC trainings are set to begin on May 15th and will be led by Crystal Shelnutt and Ben
  • Ewing. Region 10 is working to coordinate a community education event that is tentatively scheduled

for June 22nd. This event will consist of Stop the Bleed, C.R.A.S.E, and Hands- Only CPR trainings. Certified instructors have expressed mild interests in assisting with the event. Coordination and implementation of this event is contingent upon community interest and participation.
