  5. User Journeys and Storytelling Graduate Introduction to Design 01 ID481-001 Fall 2010 Jeffery Mau 5

  6. Defjnition: User Journey A user journey tells the story of how a user experiences a product, service or offering through the use of pictures, sketches or illustrations. Similar to creating a prototype before building a fjnal functional product, the user journey serves as a tool to communicate a new idea to others as well as think through how the offering will work. A good way to approach thinking about the user experience is to think in these terms: • What is it like for a new user experiencing the offering for the fjrst time? • How does their interaction and use change as they learn and become familiar with the offering? • How might they use the offering with other products in their life? • What is the fjnal experience of offering? While there are endless questions of this sort to consider, think of the primary “use cases” of your concept. Graduate Introduction to Design 01 ID481-001 Fall 2010 Jeffery Mau 6
