Warm vessel: exceptional vessel w/ purge ODH

– Icarus cold vessels – installed, pneumatically pressure tested and verified for FEA,
approved by safety, presently at vacuum and connected to warm gas collection system via gas re-condensers
– Icarus warm vessel – installed, approved by safety w/o pressure testing due to
excessive leaks to atm, ready for N2 purge (limited for ODH impact and contingent on ODH assignment for SBNFD). Heater system still needs to be completed, incl. controls
– Internal Cryogenics – installed, approved by safety. Side penetration spools are
being pumped for insulating vacuum
– Proximity Cryogenics (incl. vessels, piping, supports) – installed, tested,
approved by safety, verified by CERN (mostly)
- Gas recirculation filters are activated by Fermilab; filter boxes are closed and at insulation
vacuum
- Liquid recirculation filters are activated by Fermilab; filter boxes are closed, but need to be
pumped for insulation vacuum
- Fill filter and switch panel are installed, connected to external system and awaiting
regeneration
- Supports (for transfer lines and gas re-condensers) are installed
- Reliefs are tested and installed
- Valves PVs and FCVs are verified for functionality

for ops with delivery isolation valve closed awaiting ODH and ORC
- GN2 system – installed, approved, ready, incl. delivery of GN2 for warm vessel purge with
delivery isolation valve closed awaiting ODH and ORC
- LAr system – installed, approved, cold/filled 2 times by Air Products with Fermilab verification
- f purity for delivered argon (O2, N2, H2O), connected to fill filter with delivery isolation valve
closed awaiting ODH and ORC
- GAr system – installed, approved, ready, incl. delivery of GAr to cryostats via installed
makeup filter (activated by Fermilab) with delivery isolation valve closed awaiting ODH and ORC
- Regeneration system – installed, approved, ready, incl. delivery of GAr + H2 for fill filter
- Warm gas collection system – installed, approved, ready for operations, connected to
cryostats via gas re-condensers and at common vacuum with cryostats
- Pressure reliefs (Velan mechanical reliefs and control valves) – installed, tested, approved

with insulation

participation/supervision. Possibly, can be done with Fermi and CERN teams together while CERN observing/controlling remotely. TBD.

– GN2 purge of warm vessel – ready, but awaiting ODH (2 weeks w/periodic
verification of leak tightness and oxygen monitoring) – ready, but awaiting ODH (target mid-Jan 2020)
– Fill of cryostats with GAr (target beginning of Feb 2020):
- Initial letting of vacuum with clean GAr from via regenerated fill filter and liquid purifier boxes
- Fine regulation of cryostat pressure with GAr via makeup filter
- The purity of the gas in the cold vessels is checked with already commissioned gas analyzers
and accepted by Detector team
– Proximity Cryo System purges (target beginning of Feb 2020):
- Initial pump/purge - done
- Secondary purge

– Cooldown of cryostats w/LN2 via shields (for ~2 weeks):
- Configuration and opening LN2 dewar to system
- Cooldown with LN2 by gravity
- Cooldown by pumping with LN2 pumps
– Fill of cryostats with LAr (for ~8 weeks):
- Initiation of LAr delivery by Air Products (w/21 days notice)
- Initiation delivery schedule with acceptance procedure and transfer of LAr to cryostats
- Intermediate regeneration of fill filters
- Pressurization test
- Transitioning to steady-state operations
