SSO ¡Authen0ca0on ¡

• STARnet ¡first ¡op0on ¡of ¡SSO ¡Authen0ca0on ¡uses ¡LDAP. ¡
• Liferay ¡supports ¡LDAP ¡and ¡it ¡is ¡easier ¡to ¡connect ¡to ¡a ¡centrally ¡

managed ¡system ¡to ¡the ¡gateways. ¡

• New ¡users ¡create ¡an ¡account ¡on ¡the ¡fly ¡to ¡the ¡LDAP ¡server ¡during ¡the ¡

first ¡login. ¡ ¡

• SSO ¡with ¡Shibboleth ¡has ¡been ¡tested ¡(in ¡CTA ¡science ¡gateway ¡

prototype). ¡

• It ¡provides ¡SSO ¡services ¡allowing ¡a ¡wide ¡range ¡of ¡login ¡handler ¡ranging ¡

from ¡LDAP ¡to ¡X.509 ¡user ¡cer0ficate ¡login. ¡

• The ¡Iden0ty ¡Provider ¡is ¡a ¡Java ¡Servlet ¡ ¡web ¡applica0on ¡and ¡user ¡

iden0ty ¡informa0on ¡are ¡pulled ¡from ¡an ¡LDAP ¡service. ¡

• Liferay ¡authen0ca0on ¡is ¡performed ¡using ¡a ¡Liferay ¡Hook ¡plugin. ¡
