Gogama, Ontario, Derailment

  • A CN crude oil unit train with 100 tank cars

derailed on February 14.

  • Of the 29 cars that derailed 27 were unjacketed

CPC1232 cars (built from 2012 to 2014) with half head shield and 2 were jacketed and insulated CPC1232 cars with full head shields.

  • At least 7 cars were breached.
  • The TSB will conduct a tank car investigation.
  • The response was slowed down by harsh weather

and the remoteness of the derailment site (30 miles off any real road).
