  1. Sports Presentation Evening – Tuesday 12 November On Tuesday 12th November over 250 members of the St John Fisher community came together to recognise our pupils’ sporting achievements from the 2018 -19 academic year. Headteacher, Mr Brockwell, kicked off the evening with a very poignant story taken from a George A. Sheenan and his writings about the sport of running, and the quote that "sport is where an entire life can be compressed in to few hours...". It reflected on what a tremendous group of young people we have at St John Fisher and how sport can have a powerful impact on their lives. The celebration saw guest speaker Alex Mellor of the Leeds Rhinos present 118 awards to our St John Fisher students, acknowledging the success across a large variety of sports. The evening was a huge success, and this was due to our fabulous St John Fisher Sixth Form Congress and Ambassadors who hosted the evening; announcing the awards, keeping everyone entertained and ensuring that the evening ran smoothly. The gym had been transformed for the occasion and was full of parents, carers, grandparents, siblings, students and staff, creating a positive and lively atmosphere and hopefully an enjoyable evening for all. Joe Van Parys, Daniel Napper and James Crossley entertained the audience with their live music before, during and after the event. We were delighted to be able to gather together to celebrate and recognise our pupils’ success and an enjoyable evening was had by all who attended. Thank you to parents for your support both on the evening and in the previous academic year. Congratulations to the award winners and we look forward to replicating the success in the current academic year. Thank you to all our students and staff for their time, dedication, commitment and endeavour over the last academic year to represent St John Fisher in such a positive light. As a school and PE Department, it is very rewarding to see so many pupils partaking in extra-curricular PE and doing so with a smile on their face. Sport has so many benefits and has the power to change people’s lives, so we hope our students keep utilising the opportunities available to them during their time at St John Fisher and continue to thrive.
