In Order to Participate the Following is Required:
§ A physical as required by the OHSAA. § Signed Code of Conduct Agreement Form § Pay-to-Participate Fee of $80.00 per sport with a
family cap of $360.00/year.
§ This can be paid the following ways:
§ Check made out to your child’s school. § Cash given to your child’s school.
§ Pay on paypal.
balance is due April 27th, 2015.
§ All other forms required by your activity.

§ Enforced 365 days a year § Any offenses are cumulative
throughout the student’s enrollment.
§ Enforcement of this code will be
communicated with students and parents.
¡ § All participants in athletic activities at
Brunswick Middle Schools must meet academic eligibility requirements.
§ The program is twofold, with a credit check
and minimum grade point requirement each 9 weeks. A probationary program is available to those not meeting the minimum grade point requirements.
§ Must have received passing grades in
a minimum of FIVE classes attempted in the grading period immediately preceding to be eligible.
§ If passing 5 classes, must have a 1.8
minimum grade point average for the grading period immediately preceding. They will be given the opportunity to participate in a probationary program. ¡
§ Student athletes are not allowed to
possess, use, sell, give, transmit, or be under the influence of any drug at any time.
§ Prescription drugs, unless specifically
prescribed are not allowed.
§ The possession or use of any
tobacco product is also prohibited.
Consequences for the Sale or Distribution
Ø First Violation:

participation in athletics and co- curricular/extra-curricular activities.

Consequences for the Possession and/or Use of Drugs/Alcohol.
Ø First Violation:
activities including playoffs & awards ceremonies, or 50% of scheduled events if student completes a drug/alcohol/tobacco assessment.
Ø Second Violation:
athletics/co-curricular activities for one calendar year.
Ø Third Violation:
curricular activities while attending Brunswick City Schools.
§ Hosting parties where drugs and/or alcohol is
present will be viewed the same as the distribution of drugs and/or alcohol, receiving the same discipline. To avoid discipline, students who host a party where the drugs and/or alcohol were present must immediately:
§ 1)ask the individual(s) who brought the drugs
and/or alcohol to leave,
§ 2) call/inform parents, and § 3) call the police. Students who follow this
procedure will not be viewed as distributors of drugs and/or alcohol.
§ Students who attend parties where drugs
and/or alcohol are present will also be
and/or alcohol will be disciplined in accordance with the use of drug and/or alcohol policy. Students who attend and do not use drugs and/or alcohol must leave immediately. If the student fails to leave, discipline will result in the following:

Ø First Violation:

§ Voluntary referrals do not carry any punitive
consequences.
§ Students are allowed to carry one voluntary
referral during their participation.
§ Referrals can be made to the coach, athletic
director, teacher, administrator, guidance counselor, or to the District Prevention Specialist, Kathy Fulkerson, kfulkerson@bcsoh.org, 330.273.0292
§ NOTE: Students cannot use self-referral as a
method to avoid consequences once a code of conduct rule has been violated.
§ Students are responsible for the care/
keeping of all materials issued to them as participants in a Brunswick City Schools activity.
§ Participants who fail to return uniforms,
equipment or supplies at the designated times will be fined the cost of replacing property at current prices.
§ The school may hold grades, certificates,
diplomas, records, and may deny further participation in Brunswick activities until appropriate compensation. ¡
