Kep province Cambodia
Kep Province、Cambodia
- Area: 336 ㎢(The smallest province in Cambodia)
- Population: 40,280
Angkaol village in Kep Province、Cambodia
- Angkaol village selected as a target site for introducing the Crab Bank system
- In Kep Province, Blue Swimming Crab is an important source of
income for fishers.
- However, the size of the crabs caught is smaller than it was 10
years ago.
- On the other hand, fishers are not fully aware of the
prohibition on fishing of small crabs and the prohibition of
- perations in conservation area.
- If high fishing pressure on the blue swimming crabs continues,
there is a concern about depletion of Blue Swimming Crab resources.

(5)To formulate sustainable gravid crab supply and juvenile crab stocking system, fishers provide gravid crabs and hatch/stock juvenile crabs to the conservation area (1)To formulate periodical catch data collection system at the landing sites (2)To strengthen the management of conservation area with signboards/posters and with setting up of buoys at the boundary of the conservation area (3)To implement periodical surveillance activities at Angkaol area(landing sites, conservation area) by Kep FiAC and CFi. (4)To improve hatching facilities: Selection and introduction of hatching technology, selection of sites, design and construction of the hatching facilities
